Breaking News

Postby Shada Dukal » Sun Nov 08, 2015 7:21 pm

A new TV show but only via the CBS streaming service All Access. I don’t expect any Cardassians, so don’t raise up your hopes. Worf says it won’t be in our universe but in J.J. Abrams’ one. Our misbegotten universe is truly dead and this time Dukat is not to blame. I guess they aim it at NU Trekkies as well as Trek-omnivores who would devour anything, even a piece of shit with a Star Trek logo on it.

gopefully it will be canon and set in the proper universe.

Ideal for me would be a series set around 20 years after ds9 or voyager

Judging by the comments on the net, the chances for a show set in the timeline after Voyager or DS9 are next to zero. They want to develop the JJ-verse.

Personally, I would like to watch something like the old abandoned project called Star Trek: Federation.

The most beautiful thing about Star Trek is the aliens, not the humans, so a show featuring the interactions between the races – treaties, wars, negotiations, power struggle, more details about their way of life, culture, society, politics and mentality – would be fun. Still, it would be awfully expensive and it would require previous knowledge of the ST universe.

What is more, the conservative part of the fandom dislikes everything after TNG because they don’t like the Federation being criticized or not strong enough, while the new fans know only NU Trek.

not a big fan of the new screenwriter if honest.

his episodes for voyager and ds9 were pretty basic episodes

I quite like his DS9 episodes, only two in fact, because both feature Cardassians. “Empok Nor” episode is one of my favorites.

I can’t speak of Voyager, I forced myself to watch the Cardassian episodes (those with Seska and the Cardassian hologram) and I am very disappointed, really lame. Still, without Cardassians, I can’t relate to the characters. I did not pay attention who wrote them.

Still, they say that the new series will be a continuation of the movie “Beyond” that is to be released this year. I watched the trailer, there is a reptilian baddie, something like a Voth or Gorn. But they claim it is a new species.
