Yes, a great actor, I like him in Total Recall, too. What about attaching Everett's head to Gull Dukat’s body? Or other way round?

Re: The Obsidian Files
This is a great photomanip! Marc Alaimo as a Zando-Zan in human form, this is from “The Last Starfighter.”
I like the plaque with the Cardassian logo too, it is really symbolic. This is the actor who defined this race. The quintessential Cardassian – proud, ambitious, capable, intelligent, shifty, charming, displaying a prepossessing personality and, of course, dutifully punished for all that. Without him, the Cardassians would be just another “alien of the week”. He really fought for his character in DS9 and insisted on making him as challenging and controversial as real people are. Even now, when he goes to cons, he always defends Dukat and considers him a good guy forced to face too many unpleasant decisions.
Alaimo is amazing when he plays bounty hunters, military or police officers, shady bosses. What about “Arena”?

never seen arena.
I think that while alaimo is brilliant, its not true the cardassians would be just another alien of the week.
While dukat is superb he is not even my favorite cardassian as Garak also has depth of character as well
Even Damar had it with the thought gone into his character.
Then this is why DS9 was the best of all trek shows as no other show gave its secondary characters that quality of depth, in fact a lot of the supporting characters were better than the main characters in the other shows
Take those cunts wesley crusher and Laforge, human cardboard cutouts

Re: The Obsidian Files
Ironically, at first they wanted to use the Romulans as chief antagonists but then they decided to develop the Cardassians, probably they felt that the Romulans were used in TOS and TNG enough. Alaimo was not the first choice for Dukat and they called him only after they realized that the actor they cast for Dukat was not very impressive and could not act under the prosthetics. So they recalled Alaimo’s Gul Macet.
I like Dukat best and then Garak and Damar, I wish there were more episodes with Damar but he was introduced later in the show. In an interview, Andrew Robinson said Garak was the finesse Cardassian, the opposite of the tough guys in uniforms. I like Garak very much, but in the last two seasons he cooperates with the Federation too willingly and this does not sit well with me. I somehow expected him to take Cardassia’s side in the Dominion War even if he did not like Dukat.
“Arena” is a cultic B-movie from 1989.Apart from Alaimo who plays a criminal boss who holds a ring for gladiator fights among aliens, you can also see Armin Shimerman as his right hand. The movie is considered a breakthrough in terms of alien designs and an inspiration for shows such as Battlestar Galactica or Babylon 5. (Cmdr. Ivanova from Babylon 5 is played by Claudia Christian who appears in a prominent role in “Arena” too). In this film, humans are the underdogs and the aliens are much stronger.
Exactly, this is what I like about DS9 – the supporting characters. You can add Jake Sisko to the group the walking screen props. This spoiled kiddo was in almost every episode. If this were the level of mankind in the 24th century, I would rather be a Cardassian. Terry Farrell looks amazing and tries hard but still is a horrible actress.

Re: The Obsidian Files
I followed the discussion so far and, indeed, I find it interesting that they decided to develop the Cardassians, but got forced back by the fans in a way; I wonder what Dukat would have been if there was not the demand to try and make him a straight up "bad guy".
Hehehe, Arena was, indeed, something that inspired sci-fi series, despite being a B-movie. It is interesting what small films can do for their actors and their genres, isn't it?
I think the only notable exception where Marc Alaimo plays an antagonist was his brief cameo in The Naked Gun 3, as the trucker, since he wasn't as charming as he usually is, hehe XD

Re: The Obsidian Files
You are right, this is his most tragic part, apart from his theater performances. Gul Dukat viciously killed by a feminist bitch.

Re: The Obsidian Files
The new logos look really authentic and impressive, even the rust on the metal rim is preserved.
I am trying to interpret their symbolism.
They must be wall paneling elements, signs, and buttons representing military or departmental insignia. The green one reminds me of ops or cartography and stellar mapping, the pale violet logo is more of the Cardassian colonial affairs. The red one must be the Cardassian Guard or Navy. The first beige symbol looks very Bajoran and the second one could be related to engineering, science, or shipbuilding.
I love the Cardassian letters but unfortunately, I don’t understand them. I am a linguist but I have never tried to invent Cardassian grammar or vocabulary because it does not seem very important, I am interested in the message, what the Cardassians think and say, not in the structure. Besides, no language can survive without a speech community ready to speak it, especially artificial languages. This font really typifies the Cardassian sense of utility pretty well and it looks alien enough.
