What about the Cardassian riding hounds? What do they look like? I am really into horses so this issue is of vital importance to me. How much meat does a Cardassian riding hound need a day? More than a Terran tiger or less? Are they horse-size or pony-size? How much do they weigh – 500 kg, 400kg, 300 kg?

This is something I have found on Tumblr.

I guess the voles, wompats and taspars are thriving so the wild riding hounds can have a bite now and then. I am sure that the Ferengi would be interested in vole fights so we might supply them. We don’t want the customers in the bars to get bored, do we? Then several voles might get “lost” by mistake and suddenly the local Federation installations will report a lot of power line problems and increased pest control measures.

Well I can’t understand what this gettle is, Gul Madred mentions it, Memory Alpha says it is a communal animal native to Cardassia Prime. Having in mind that the brangwa and the riding hound are canine this must be herbivorous, an ecosystem can’t support carnivorous species without plenty of herbivores.

Yes, whoever decides to keep a riding hound should bear in mind that they must be feed at least 3 kg of meat daily. And one shouldn’t leave any sem’hal stew unattended in the kitchen. What about training, are they intelligent, do they have a good memory having in mind the Cardassian memory? I suppose they are good guards and companions. However, they are strong and tough animals so they might require firmer handling than a Terran dogs kept at home. More of a police dog training.

I never thought about the gettle at all, but since 2006 I envisioned them like the Kodos from World of Warcraft.

My last post wasn't productive at all, was it? ( ... after all there were some riding wolfs (not hounds) in it .... so I missed the target only by some decas ...)
The bottle is almost empty, time to go to bed ....

I like the kodos as a concept, your comparison makes sense but having in mind that Cardassia does not have much greenery I expect them to be smaller than a cow. I guess they might have a wild form and a domesticated form raised for meat. I expect them to eat shrubs and meager grass and not requiring any grain fodder, which makes them cheap in terms of upkeep. The local farmers probably round them up several times a year. Gul Madred said “packs of wild gettle” so there must be also domesticated gettle.

“Blade Runner” is one of my favorite movies and I really love the final scene.
